The Magic of Balance

In many positive psychology studies on self-theories, having a fixed mindset is definitely the less desirable of the two options. Growth mindset gets all the glory. However, too much growth mindset without ever shifting into a performance zone, leads to a path of inaction, hesitancy, and endless preparation. Optimal performance requires a balance between both growth and fixed, learning and performance.

What’s your optimal balance point?

  1. This is interesting. I’ve never thought about this, but I think endless preparation really seems like a big problem for some people.

I think the balance point might be when someone starts to think outside the box and found their true passion to focus and act upon it. But the question here is, what stimulates a person with growth mindset to think outside of the box? Do they need external help?
