The Choice to Be Well

Orange JuiceDo you recall the last time you made the choice to enjoy some freshly squeezed orange juice?

In my Jamba Juice years, especially the two as General Manager, I had a lot of early mornings. Most people associate those days that they are up before the sun with a triple shot coffee…or a whole kettle of green tea.

For me, it was fresh orange juice. I would juice it every morning before I opened the store. It was a smell that communicated freshness, a smell that invited customers in…but not a lot of people knew that they didn’t have to order a fresh OJ to get it; they could substitute out another juice to get it for FREE instead. In my opinion, swapping out something that wasn’t so healthy for something that was, was an excellent choice. I loved to let customers know about that option all the time.

But I’m not here to convince you that you need to drink fresh squeezed orange juice every morning, I’m here to remind you of the beautiful reality of the six-letter-word: choice.

Life is full of choices, from the color of your toothbrush to the type of car you drive. When it comes to wellness, here’s what I know about choices:

  1. You have a choice. There are a lot of health challenges you don’t choose, yes… After I stepped into the world of coaching, I came to see my health and wellness differently. With a perspective of choice, I can choose to have the mindset of wellness. And you know what comes after that? Freedom.
  2. There’s only so much you can control. Part of being well is realizing you can only do so much. You will exhaust yourself if you try to control everything.
  3. No matter what you can’t control, there are still choices you can make to choose to be well. Don’t get discouraged! It starts with mindset, perspective, and choices… In a world with some much at our fingertips, it’s natural to want an easy fix. Dear coaches, clients, and friends, not everything about our world is well, not everything may be well with our bodies, but we can start with that choice to choose wellness.

Wellness begins in your mind.

Wellness begins in your mind.
